The reason I'm posting this here is because like most people who enjoy Kev's humor and View Askew in general, the people here are a little twisted, a little "off", a kindred collection of souls, if you will... :)
I almost died today.
I'm the "Senior Systems Engineer" for an IT consulting firm here in Casper, Wyoming. (meaning I basically fix, install, and consult on computers, servers, networks, whatever...) As cities in Wyoming are separated by miles and miles of nothing, my job involves a little travel. I was on my way back from Douglas, a small town about 50 miles away. I was passing a semi when it began to fishtail. I was slowing down when I hit a patch of ice and began to slide sideways into the median of the 4 lane interstate. Things wouldn't have been so bad, except that I then hit a crossing sideways, causing me to fly into the air, "barrel roll" my new Dodge Intrepid 3 times before landing some 30-odd yards away. (This is the description from the very nice gentleman who stopped to check on me.) The look on his face as I got out of my car and walked away was priceless. (a few VERY minor cuts and a bruised shin!)
Anyway, the really facinating part about the whole accident is this... The moment my car became airborne, my fate was basically going to be decided by the flip of a 2000-pound forest green 4-door coin. I landed right side up and skidded to a halt on the other half of the continuing median. The nice gentleman said it was the most unbelievable thing he'd ever seen, especially since he was coming the other way and I was headed straight for him.
I guess my point is this: live your life right. I fully believe in balance in the universe. I am an atheist, but like to treat everyone and everything with a measure of respect, and somehow, things tend to work out. No matter what you believe in... Jesus, Allah, Buddha, Great Spirit, karma, New Coke, luck, fate, or Kevin Smith's pinky toe... I truly think that if you send out some o' that New Age, positive vibe crap, it chalks up a notch in your mixed-metaphor corner... :) Thanks for letting me get that out.
Oh, and just to stay on topic, I love my new J&SBSB DVD...
