Comic Books?What do you recomend?

For some totally fucked up reason I respect you guys' (and gal's) opinions. My question is this-If a man in his mid 20's wanted to start reading a comic book or two, What would you recomend?
Please let me know what you think and why-I'll be hitting the comic store on Monday and would like to take your advice with me.
(also if you could let me know how often they come out-so I can continue buying the ones I like.)
