Canadian references in View Askew movies?

I just re watched all of the view askew movies and realized there is quite a few references to canada. i was wondering if anyone knows why? here are some examples: Chasing Amy: toronto jersey, degrasi high (the "aboot")
Dogma: God is a canadian
Mallrats: whalers beating the canucks.

i think there is more......but i cant really think of them of the top of my head. Were any of the movies shot up here or were they all shot in jersey?
