: That's the only film I can think of which was so... trite, and simplistic, and full of godawful cliches, that I felt like it was sucking my brain out and turning me into a drooling retard.
Trite? Yes, that over-used concept of kids from our tim going back to a more simplistic period symbolized in a black and white TV show and turning it upside down. WHEN WILL HOLLYWOOD STOP CHURNING OUT THIS OVER-USED FORMULA?
:Maybe it's not the WORST film so much as my LEAST FAVOURITE film, if there's a difference... but it was just so... BAD. The worthless attempts at subtext were what really sent it over the edge for me. "Look, a burning bush, like in the Bible! And they hate 'colored' people, like with racism!"
Um. You missed the point entirely. But that's cool.
:And none of these little references really MEANT anything; they were just tossed in there so people could trainspot. It's like the writer just went out of his way to make surface-level references to as many things as possible, in order to look "deep".
Wow, either I missed the point entirely or you missed the point. Entirely. I know me a hair better than I know you, so I'm gonna assume you did.
