Pick two scenes from every View Askew film. The films are as follows:
Clerks
Mallrats
Chasing Amy
Dogma
Clerks Uncensored
Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back
So, where was I? Oh yeah, pick two scenes from each motion picture. These should be the two scenes that need the most work. (just 2, although there are more that I'd like to change, but please, 2.)
What would you change about them?
Mine are:
Clerks:
The ending scene. I suppose it lacks because it was a pickup, but I really would do a scene that shows what exists across the street from the Quickstop. Ah, what an ending (hey, I've never been to the Quickstop.)
The Video Store Scene where Randal is on the telephone and the customer has the baby in hand (I need not to explain more, I'm sure you know which scene I'm talking about.) It was the funniest scene in the whole movie in my opinion, I would have dragged it on longer.
Mallrats:
The scene where Brodie and TS get arrested and are out front of the mall, that could have gone on longer and different. (Hey, I like long movies.)
I would change the opening, that narrative about Brodie's cousin Walter is retarded. They should have left that whole ten minute opening with the gunfire etc. (See the DVD for details.)
Chasing Amy:
The ending...it was so depressing.
The Jay and Silent Bob scene. Silent Bob should have talked a little less.
Clerks Uncensored:
I'd change the entire pilot. Ouch.
As for Episode 5, I htink it's ep 5, where the children are all blowing over from the breeze, talk about stooping to a low level of filmmaking.
Dogma:
The opening, I read in an early draft of the script that Smith had a credit sequence where it cuts between shots of the old man getting put into an ambulance. I'd put that in there.
The ending of the film, it feels like it was rushed (although considering the trouble one has from a "low budget", it's understandable.) Of course once your shooting 35mm in my opinion, then nothing about the movie is low budget.
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back:
Screw this two scene thing, I would have chosen another script to end the series. But it was smart to do so.
