I wanted it to be good. I really did. Not just for Spielberg and Kubrick's sake, not that Kubrick would've been able to reap the benefits of the flick's success, mind you. I thought that if Spielberg put together a great flick, more filmmakers would've been inspired to make greatness. The movie did nothing for me. The special effects were ok. I could care less about David, Joe, David's family, or anyone else in the movie. The minute they should've ended the movie, they dragged it on for another half hour. Instead of getting a great movie, I got a major disappointment. I didn't see anything all too groundbreaking or important go on. It's not like it takes a brain surgeon to understand the plot of the flick, so it's not like I didn't "get it". If anything the flick was supremely pretentious. If there were two movies where I wish I could get back the money I spent on my movie ticket because they were flat out unwatchable, they were A.I. and Brotherhood of the Wolf.
