: But not altogether unrelated to the episode. In the Hamlet segment, there was a reference to Ghostbusters (the ghost Homer leaves a slime trail whenever he travels through walls).
Wow. I didn't catch that. I mean, I caught the slime, but I didn't realise that that explained the reference at the end. It was still a weird bit, though, if only 'cause the dancing went on for a relatively long time.
Speaking of weird "Simpsons" episodes, there was one a few weeks ago which may've been the oddest "Simpsons" I've seen. It was the one which started out with the family going on that expedition and using teamwork to save their group leader from hungry wolves (I'm not explaining it well, but anyone who saw it knows what I'm talking about)... and it was normal enough, until the story ended early and a bunch of sly references were thrown in to the family's fictionality ("is this the end of our series... of adventures?"). Then, Ned's wife from Vegas suddenly returned, and it was like a whole new episode had begun.
It was weird at the time. Fuck you.
: By the way, the last five minutes of the show were genius. Lenny and Carl and Ralphie made me laugh out loud. The rest of the show, eh.
The bit where Ralph stabbed himself was definitely the best part. Other highlights: "Daddy's stomach is bleeding!", Lisa/Ophelia's bout of insanity, and Marge's suicide. Ralph's been on a roll lately. I don't remember whether this was new or a rerun, but I recently saw the one with "Hi, I'm Doctor Stupid. Oops, you're dead!", which cracked me the fuck up.
: But man, tonight's episode of FUTURAMA was genius straight through. A race of tiny aliens choose Bender as their new home, and he becomes their God. Amazing.
It was good, but I dunno about "genius". The monk scenes were great, the real God was great, Bender's replacement was great, the little people were great... fuck, just about all of it was great. But bits of it felt a bit too bland. I think the pace could've been tightened up a bit.
