Seems to me that YOU'RE forgetting the fact that in Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back, Mallrats is referred to as a movie(Alyssa to Trisha).
Very simply put, the Scream 3 cameo fits in nicely near the end of Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back. Just after they leave Banky and before they go to "Kick Some Ass". Who's to say the boys didn't take a little tour of Hollywood with their new found fat-cash?
