One, they are releasing it in APRIL, which is financially the calm before the storm of SUCCESSFUL summer flicks. Note Spider Man opens May 3rd.
Two, they are not even PROMOTING this film and its associtaion witht he MUMMY. This is a spin off! This was going to be billed as the PREQUEL. They haven't even MENTIONED the Mummy in a single ad I have seen.
Three, they have NO FAITH in the Rock's abilities to carry the film. I have not seen one scene in a trailer that actually SHOWED him speaking.
I hope it does well now just so that the folks involved that aren't getting the studio's support can laugh at them.
