: My friend Schuyler tells me that if Changing Lanes had only been in two theaters, it would've made $8,327.
: Now, I cannot be arsed to try and sum up the numbers. All I know is that it was in 2,642 theaters and made about 17 million bucks on it's first weekend, from what I can tell on Imdb.com... Anyone care to confirm?
2642 into 17 mill comes up $6434.52
That said, when a movie is in two theaters, people are obviously not going to have as much choice of where to go in order to see it. What I mean is, if "Changing Lanes" had opened in two theaters, those two theaters would have been pretty packed and probably done pretty high business. I don't know what the status was on "Vulgar" as far as selling out goes, though, so I don't know exactly how much it would have made comparitively, but I think it's safe to say that if a movie opened in 2,642 theaters, it would've had a big crowd if it had opened in two.
Hell, Kevin gave the movie like a thousand dollars of business himself.
That said, congrats to "Vulgar". It's grosses were a pleasant surprise to me at the end of the weekend, so I can just imagine how much it meant to people involved in the actual film.
