i find that todays media is confusing young girls. between the stick figure models in mags and the curvier girls like britney n jen. not to mention NOW to make it even more difficult for women....the stores have now SHRUNK their sizes. so for example, if a women is normally a size 6, in some stores now she is a size 10. if she wears a sm size shirt, then she will be a large. its frustrating. now add on the teasing for how your body looks from boys and not that great encouragement from home and seemingly harmless comments from adults (ie: wow, you are soo skinny or awww your baby fat is so cute). its too much for a young 10yr old girl to take in and because of that she develops an eating disorder whether it be anerexia or bulimia. i find that it is harder now a days to be a child than it was from when i was 10. 12 yr old girls going around, dressing like a 25 yr old walkin the streets. they seem to develop faster now too. its frustrating, but i believe that if the child has the right upbringing of whats normal and whats not, then she should be fine.
: and maybe some of the more informed women here can help me out... Why do so many women look at stick figures on runways and think that that's what guys are attracted to? Look at almost every men's magazine (for the sake of argument we'll only discuss those WITH clothes) like Maxim. Curves, curves, curves. Curves are sexy, why do womens mags try to promote an unrealistic, nearly unobtainable waifishness as sexy to the point where young girls develop unhealthy mindsets and sometimes eating disorders? Most guys I know, and probably guys here would agree, lumpy isn't cool, but curves are.
