: If you have the creativity, the technical expertise, the funding, and the gahones, than college is going to be a waste of your production time.
If you have funding, then the entire conversation is moot. But, yeah, good advice. To the girl who posted: Hey, if you can get Tom Cruise to star in your movie, then college is a waste of your time.
: You're going to need serious portfolio material and CONNECTIONS in the industry...this is done solely through networking and marketing both your work and YOURSELF.
Right, the work that you get done while at college, which despite costing a lot of money, saves you a lot of money as far as materials go.
: Remember, college can teach the technical, not the creative. If you need to know the technical... by all means...STAY IN SCHOOL!
College may not be able to teach creativity, but it can spark it better than sitting alone in your room working with no sounding board for a comprable four years.
: If your time would be better suited networking and creating a body of work...well...Don't jepordize your future...
Right, sorry I didn't elaborate upon "Don't leave unless you've got somewhere to go" to include "but keep trying to find a place to go". Networking is good, but do it while you're in school. If you meet somebody who'll give you a job in six months, you might as well learn more for that six months.
