I had read the book, and I still liked the movie. In a world of Tarantino wanna-bes, Soderberg actually pulls off a quirky crime movie without it seeming forced. He also did a great job with Leonard's book, letting the characters and their interactions whih drive the movie. I thought that a few of the changes made from the book were unnecessary, like Albert Brooks' extra presence. But it didn't ruin it for me.

That said, I probably liked it more for Soderberg and Clooney than Lopez. She did a fine job, but it wasn't her role that made the movie for me.

What I worry about with J-Lo (as long as we're all playing the If-I-were-Kevin game) is not her acting ability but the diva factor. After Kevin's experience with Linda Fiorentino, I think he'd be worried about an actress who might be above taking his direction. But Kevin would be the one to know the truth about J-Lo being difficult. We just have what the tabloids feed us.
