As many other people have said, she is a very good actress. One of the good things that will come of her casting will be the fact more people that aren't into Kevin's movies will come in droves to the box office - thus, giving him the box office power to make bigger and better films. Although, for Kevin to say that "Jersey Girl" is better than "Chasing Amy" is still for me to find out....
