According to what I've read, the two releases don't share anything. The second release only will have the longer version of the film while the earlier release has the theatrical one. If you want both, you have to get both. Also, I believe that they don't share a single feature between them. Personally I like this approach. It's understandable that they have to release two different times, but I like how they make it so the releases compliment each other. Even knowing that a better version is coming out, I probably will buy both.
