I'm not a huge fan of her singing (I generally eschew the R&B musical scene), but I give recognition to her acting prowess and her venerable cinematic oeuvre.

Anaconda: Fun movie; JLo more than holds her own against JVoight.

Selena: Flawed, but a great showcase for her presence and charisma.

Out of Sight: One of the more underrated films of the 90's; infinitely cooler than Ocean's 11, a potboiler-boondoggle hybrid in my opinion. Clooney and Lopez were great together.

U-Turn: One of the low points of Stone's career, but Jennifer showed terrific range in the midst of a wacky pseudo-noir plot.

The Cell: The narrative was flawed, but Jennifer deserves a lot of credit for choosing a daring and unconventional project and for making a tricky role look effortless.

Wedding Planner: Looked to me like a saccharine-crappy romantic comedy, but my girlfriend was vehment about renting it. It was saccharine and crappy, not to mention predictable and tired, but it was worth seeing for the beauty and presence that you-know-who brought to the role. It's hard to say this without succumbing to emasculation, but THE CAMERA LOVES HER!!!

Angel Eyes: Didn't see it.

Enough: Looks horrible, but I'm sure said girlfriend will either drag me to see in in the theater or force me to rent it on video. I think that she looks great as a de-glammed mother, though. There is nothing greater than natural beauty.

As you may have guessed, I am all for the participation of Mrs. Lopez in a Kevin Smith film. My heart will be broken if I find out that this development was nothing more than a scuttlebutt.

JLo + Ben + Kevin's dialogue and direction= A potentially great film.

I'm a little confused by all of the anti-JLo sentiments that I read on the last board. Guys, gals...she's an accomplished thespian who has shown a great range and an abundance of charisma. Should we not be thrilled that View Askew could obtain the services of such a talent? Is the vitriol a direct result of a fanboy urge to overreact to changes or additions that are perceived as insulting to the previous VA films? Do people bitch merely for the sake of bitching?

I don't know...

...but I do know that I hope to see Jennifer Lopez's name in the opening credits of JERSEY GIRL.

See you in the funny pages...
