I'm reading Trainspotting again, and I know it's very rarely that the movies do fulfill a reader's expectations after reading a book. Trainspotting (the book) is AMAZING, and reading it really makes me wish that there was a 12-hour-long movie made to go along with it.

And so I was just thinking...

What was your biggest disappointment as far as books-turned-movies? I know, I know - "they're two completely different styles of art", blah, blah, blah, but if you could remake one book-turned-movie to your standards, what would it be?

And while we're on the subject...

What movies based on books, in your opinion, did come the closest to the authors' work? All I can think of is Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. What a wonderful flick and book, as well.
