in your version jedi's sit on their ass til they have the advantage... didnt you remember the bit where jedi's are keepers of the peace. who... well keep the peace. they dont wait til its nice and quiet and then say its all good you know.
and you can can the conspiracy crap. the purple lightsaber thing was only brought up to make people obsess about it.
yoda says it cuz its true. dark lords dont work in a committee. They dont play well with others. trade federation as example.
