Bathroom gaff in Chasing Amy?

Late at night, watching "Amy" for the nth time and noticed that during the dart shooting seen a man (albeit a man with long hair, so I could be mistaken) comes out of the women's room, and a women (also with long hair, so a vice versa on the above parenthetical) exits from the gent's. Is this a gaff? An inside joke? The result of watching Dads at 2:30 in the morning after one too many shots of tequila? Does any one know the answer to this insanely stupid question that will prevent me from sleeping tonight?
