As Pete said, it wouldn't sound right with an American accent. Also, there are many words that only sound really good in their accent of origin. Any Brit who use the phrase "Kick ass!" in an American stylee sounds ridiculous.
The idiosyncratic nature of slang words should be preserved in their native accents...dude! See that? I sounded silly, and I was only typing it...
