the book flits between characters though doesn't it - one chapter rents, one chapter sickboy...

i think for narrative purposes they made the film primarily about renton..

the film works, but it could have done with the beating up the american in the toilets scene to make it better :O)

The movie is of course on my top ten list, but there are so many things they could have added into the movie to make it more about life, like the book, and less about drugs. Sure, the book was to a point about drugs, it's certainly a prevelant theme, but there were many different aspects that were not taken to film. I wish they would have kept Second Prize in the movie, and they could have done alot more with Renton.

: And the part where Sick Boy shoots the rottweiler from his window (Not Rent, like in the park in the movie). His character was very under developed.

: Spud however, was the most dilluted. he was the mumble mouthed conscience of the group. His philosophies of loving one self and protecting smaller things was completely dropped from the character when taken to film.

: I understand why they left out what they did, and changed what they did, and I'm certainly not complaining. Just curious if anyone else thought the same.
