I knew which bits I could drift off during, and which bits were worth watching.
I have no idea why Padme could have fallen for him either - he comes across as a complete brat. The dialogue was so poor that maybe he didn't have much of a chance to portray the character as anything else.
I can see myself getting weepy in Episode 3 when Padme dies...
