My knowledge of Israeli, Palestinian history is limited, but I seem to remember that the trouble started much earlier than 1948. : : the land that israel is on was taken from the palestinians in 1948 following a UN order to set up a state of israel to protect the jews from the holocaust ever happening again and to assuage american and english guilt over the fact they did little to stop the holocaust from happening : : following that, in the 60s the israels invaded and occupied palestinian territory, as frankly the land was a nicer and they wanted to build homes there. : : following this brief war, the United Nations passed resolutions that Israel should leave the occupied terrorities and return to their 1948 borders : : these resolutions have never been enforced : : is that oversimplified enough for you? : : : : : : Both cultures have a right to that land.
