Just watched the J&SBSB DVD and wanted to express some major gratitude for making such a fan-oriented movie. I think it's a great statement about your films (and you as a writer/director that people want to work with) as I counted roughly 20 "name" actors in your movie. You just don't see that everyday. Closest that I can think of is "Ocean's 11" (and yes, that movie does get better each time it's viewed), and you at least doubled that count.
By the way -- a year ago I would have agreed with you on something you posted a while back about (paraphrasing) "giving a fuck less about hobbits". I had friends who had read the book and were really into whose passion I never understood. Watched the move. Correction: wowed by the movie. As the lover of film and storytelling that I believe you to be, I hope you will find the 3 hours to kick back and enjoy the movie (as well as the story). I have since read the book and found Tolkien's prose astounding. He's definitely not dialogue driven like McDonald, but his storytelling is incredible. He also has a love of tobacco products in his stories that you might identify with...
