A few months ago, I went to my ten year high school reunion and saw the girl who was the valedictorian our graduating year. I talked to her, and I quickly found out that, though she had still done well in college and had really high achievements, she was working as an insurance underwriter, the exact same job that I have. I was a total slack-off in high school, only slightly less so in college, and I ended up in practically the same place as the highest achieving person in my high school. That just goes to show you that hard work doesn't always amount to something, but it doesn't hurt, either.
