: Anakin isn't lacking in talent, strength or confidence -- he's lacking in humility. That's what Obi-Wan, as a good teacher, is trying to instill in him. He doesn't need to stroke his ego. It's apparent throughout the story how skilled Anakin is -- you see it in the action and in the way that Obi-Wan trusts him.
: Again though, I think this point would have benefitted if the first film showed more of Anakin's training instead of all that podracing, android-shooting crap.
