since your working on an extra low budget film, i recomend writing your script to fit that format. dont try to make it great as it will only be cheesy. no big special effects, not much gore,no big camera shots, etc. if you keep it simple it should be good. i think good editing equipment, a solid script, and a good camera are most important. if you remeber the blair witch movie, that was made for 20 grand. i dunno bout u but i always wondered where that money went to. but it worked because it knew its limitations. didnt try to make it into a 100 million dollar juggernaut. good luck with everything. let us know how it goes
