: Wow. Billy Bob should have gotten an Oscar for this, and Halle definately deserved hers. This movie has some of the heaviest scenes I've ever watched, like when Heath Ledger kills himself...I mean, I saw it coming right before it happened but damn! And how Billy Bob starts throwing dirt on his coffin before it has even finished lowering into the ground. I was actually really surprised about Halle's performance, that scene in the hospital when her kid died was unbelieveable.

: Another strong point I found were the parrelles between Billy Bob and his son...the scene with the hooker, the vomiting. You can sense the transformation of Billy Bob's character is nearly complete when he tells Halle his dead son 'has his mother in him', and seemed proud of it, while earlier in the movie, he berated his son for the same: 'You're just like your mother boy!'

: In a way you almost expect some horrible ending, because from their actions in the beginning of the movie, it doesn't seem like either Halle Or Billy Bob's character's deserve to be happy...

: But this is the story of redemption at it's finest. For the most part a downer, but it was ahell of a movie.

BLEW me away again. Yes, I definitely think Hallie Berry did an incredible job with an extremely difficult role. I didn't think I would believe Hallie Barry in that part -- she has one of the most recognizable faces in the world, and yet you could believe that she was this woman.

I loved the ending - I also thought it would be tragic, and was delighted to see they chose a different path. Very brilliantly done.

Why not get a little happiness when you can?
