Everyone who has posted on this is sharing valuable points, and ones that deserve credence, no doubt, but the reason I posted this question wasn't really to hear what other people online thought. I posted the message to see what Kevin Smith had to say about the endings. Through the magic of the internet the auteur has the chance to defend his work and set the record straight.
