--Jesus, your so caustic...Good thing Kevin diddn't cut that line out.
--Maby I'm neieve but I like to think Kevin was an artist and was trying to tell a story when he made Black Hawk Clerks. The original ending was on the right track and and did make as strong as a point as possible for it's genre: Death can come at anytime so live life to it's fullest. Of course, thats the melodramatic, non-R-rated comedy version of it.
--But the given ending dosen't in anyway take away from the film's theme. The movie is still ending on a "down-note". Like yousaid. Dante's death would have been a bit to much for us to take.
