Let me let you in on something. JTHM isn't that underground. Do you really think that you're the first to try this? And given how Jhonen likes things moving forward, don't you think he'd rather progress into new forms of media (ie,Invader ZIM) with his work than another?
The thought is there, but it's been there several times before.
