I haven't missed the point at all. It's all you naysayers who don't get it.
If you have a dream or an idea that you want to make happen a million people will line up and tell you why it can't be done and try and quelch your enthusiasm for the project. Nobody ever gets anything done listening to this kind of negativity. You just have to believe in yourself and say fuck it! I'm doing this anyway and I don't care what anybody thinks!
Maybe he will fail, maybe he will make you all eat your words, but either way at least he will have tried. Even if it doesn't work out every film maker has to start somewhere and this could be a great learning experience for him if nothing else.. So why don't you all back off. If you can't say anything supportive don't say anything.
How many fucking times do you think Kevin Smith heard people say that some fat guy from Jersey could never be a major Hollywood director? Probably lots if he ever stopped to ask. Just look at him now though!
