You got a nice theory about the OWB being the cause of the sad state the good ole board is in right now... but lets be realistic here for just a moment.
The Other White Board closed down MONTHS ago, and the board is worse now than it was when the OWBers first flooded our board. It's getting worse still. The OWB contributed, but is NOT responsible for this. The problem is the average age and maturity of the newbies is decreasing while the number of INCOMING newbies is INCREASING.
Therefore welcome to the home of the pseudointellectuals. Some of the old-timers will be right at home.
