The Chili Peppers had more essence of chili pepper back in the early days. As they became more popluar, they developed musically, the funk got stronger. When Fruciante fell and Navarro stepped in, it was like a blessing in disguise. One Hot Minute is extremely underrated in my opinion. Californication is the album where the band rediscovered their sound and By the Way seems to pick up right where Californication left off.
