I've gotta believe that this isn't the studios' screenwriters' fault. If it is, I am seriously disturbed to think that studio money men are dumb enough to hire nothing but a bunch of unoriginal hacks!
I prefer to believe that the studio money men just tie the hands of the poor screenwriters who had to sell their souls to make a living writing.
: represent the best of all the screenplays that the studios have seen. They need to open up the gates a little to allow non-solicited screenplays, because they people they're working with aren't getting the job done.
