cringe when I buy some of the old ones and they are sealed in this plastic baggie held shut w/2" thick tape -- they are to be enjoyed, not guarded. I wonder if these guys grew up in the houses with the plastic runner on the carpet and cushion protectors.

My mom was a big comic fan. She was a librarian and kept several subscriptions to draw the kids in to the library. Her superiors would often question this and comment on how ragged the comics were. She'd tell them, yep, ragged and read. The classics rarely had that much traffic.
