I agree we get filtered news, but I think it was pretty public that Qadir was killed. I got it on the news update on my cell phone and on the front page of cnn.com.
I think the way the media works right now is that you get the news you want. If all the news you want is Entertainment Weekly, you can get just that and nothing else. If all you want is World Events, you can get just that instead, too. This is why some people know everything about politics but don't know who Linkin Park is (they're lucky).
Magazines and, to an extent, newspapers are going to more divided markets. I don't wanna sound like a bitchy snob, but to be honest the only good journalism left is national public radio. It's the least biased news casting you'll get, and the coverage is excellent.
The short and skinny is if you watch Fox news, you'll live handicam footage of pitbulls attacking a mailman. If you look elsewhere, results will vary.
