You can sell copies of the CD there to people who liked it, and get them to pass the word around about you. If you can generate a small buzz in your local area, radio stations usually take notice, and if you hit it big on a certain station or two, then record companies may begin to take notice. I've seen this work for a few friends. Though their albums never made it big on a national scale, they did incredibly well within the state. There are a bunch of other ways you could go, but that seems to be the most tried and true path.
