You have a valid point. I have heard all the things you have said before, but outside of the "underworld", the tattoo in question is fairly meaningless.

excerpts from "Gang Tattoos" on ShutItDown.net

"But while this tattoo holds powerful and specific significance for gang members, to the middle class that has co-opted the symbol it has no meaning beyond the idea that it is simply "cool." Thus Robert Van Winkle (formerly famous as the rapper Vanilla Ice) and Lars Frederiksen of the band Rancid both sport spiderweb tattoos. In a 1996 episode of Melrose Place, one of the characters gets drunk before going to tattoo parlor and wakes up the next day with a huge spider web tattooed on his elbow."

I'm not sure about the author's credentials, but the article was very informative. I would have to say the G-Luv is in the Lars Fredriksen/Vanilla Ice category. Tattoos are trendy now, and few have any significant meaning to the people wearing them. I still don't think it is right to criticize a person for doing something that you feel is stupid. Live and let live, my friend.
