I'd want to be Roland from The Dark Tower series by S. King. Eddie would be fun too, though. Plus side of that is, I'd get to marry a legless schizophrenic.
I'm not sure who would direct, but I think Vincent could do a good job of adapting it, and keeping the darkness without making it campy.
