: i thought attack blowed majorly, but the last half hour was great fun for me. when yoda came down with the ship, "this party is over", all those jedis fighting at once...that was quite entertaining for me. i felt 8 years old again. i kinda liked the yoda fight, but i HATE that they did the matrix thing where the camera goes around him as he stands still

: : : A while back when you were talking about A.I (which I love) someone else brought up CONTACT... I was wondering why you would say that it's a worthless piece of shit? I dug the movie a lot and I think it has its place. Not every movie can be a masterpiece, but it did have it's own good points. And WAS a good movie.

: : "Worthless piece of shit" was hyperbole, but I still don't think CONTACT was very good at all. It had some good ideas, but they were executed terribly. Examples of what I think are wrong with it- the "relationship" between Jodie Foster and McConaghey, which I once ranked as the most chemistry-free relationship in any movie I'd ever seen (ATTACK OF THE CLONES has since surpased it with the Annakin-Padme "love story"), the scene where Jake Busey is caught on videotape leering like a madman before he blows up the "thing" which looked not unlike something you might see in an Ed Wood movie , and then like I said, everything was very black-and-white and cliched, like the older guy who's Foster's rival (I forget the actor's name right now). I'm not saying that everything in every movie has to be utterly subtle and sublime, but CONTACT was the EXTREME polar opposite- everything was SO obvious and cliched and trite. There were good ideas in there, but they were presented in the most inane manner possible, and that made them fall flat for me.

: : : What, to you, defines a movie as a "worthless piece of shit"?

: : STAR WARS, EPISODE 2: ATTACK OF THE CLONES. I'm serious about that one- there's *NOTHING* redeeming in that "film" at all.

: : : Cheers Vincent!

: : Cheers Quentin!

: : : PS: How's your leg?

: : Still in a cast. I'll know for sure in three weeks when I go to the doctor and get new X-rays. Thanks for asking!
