I post on another comic board and I brought up this book only to find that most of the people hated it for many different reasons - but the big one was that comics are mostly focused on kids and this book was using Superheroes and the 'cartoonieness' in the wrong way. They didn't think this was funny or insiteful in anyway at all. I disagreed. I liked the book.

I like the part about ‘anyone can be a hero.’ And the ‘it doesn’t take super powers to be a real hero.’ And the ‘a real hero is the one that goes into the building knowing that they will never come out alive. The ones that don’t have a chance.’ I liked that despite all her anti-heroism,the main character still made the choice to be one.

Now sure, the writer could have done it in a nice and clean fashion. But I’ve never seen the world in a nice and clean way. I grew up in the dirt poor neighborhoods with drug dealers living next door and blowjobs for money was a way to feed the kids. That was how I grew up. That was the world I lived in. Granted, I now live in a much better place, but it doesn’t mean that there aren’t still people that live like that. Those people don’t have hope or a future that they know of. Maybe that’s why I relate to the sick stories so well. Maybe that’s why a prostitute getting superpowers and still earning money the only way she knew how made sense to me.

I liked that the whore hopper got stuff rammed up his bum. It was street justice with an elephant.

And I like Transmet. It shows how important freedom of speech and the press really are. Only in America could someone like Eminem be allowed to produce records. I wouldn’t want to live in a country that would prosecute him for his opinion.

Or maybe it’s just my love of heavy sarcasms.

And as for this book, the Pro, being for kids. At my comic shop it was on the top shelf and only someone taller then 5’5” could reach it. It was also in a plastic bag, taped closed. I know that’s not how it was shipped – but that’s just my comic guy being responsible for the kids that come in the store.

this is basically what I wrote on that page - I'd love to hear you opinions.
