Allowing this to perpetuate when we can easily do something about it is abhorrent. It's a minor, but annoying problem and one we shouldn't have to live with. The longer this goes on, the more we'll be fostering ignorance. Blockbuster, like it or not, are #1 right now, so there are thousands of children right now turning into their parents. They're growing up, watching Pan & scan SHIT, thinking that "black bars cut the heads off" and "you get more picture with fullscreen". I've seen this awfulness firsthand, when I had to explain widescreen DAILY at Hollywood Video and Best Buy. Don't let this go on when you have a chance to remedy the situation. Or would you rather have all the other video stores taking the #1 store's lead, stocking nothing but "fullscreen"? Stuff like this is exactly why VHS was allowed to be pan & scan for so long.
HDTV will be the standard in 2006, and people will be buying widescreen TVS. This confusion and idiocy over "widescreen" and "fullscreen" is going to happen all over again, and I'm sure as hell NOT looking forward to it.
