I like his idea, and his concept, but his execution is shit. He needs to either get a better producer or stop making CDs, because he's going downhill fast. : As for the POV and voice of a character thing. : Eminem is doing what Kool Keith's been doing since the early 90's. It's just that Kool Keith's fans are smart enough to understand it. : I mean LOOK at Kool Keith. Dr. Octagon. Dr. Dooom. The Analog Brothers. Spankmaster. Matthew. Too many names to remember in a half-conscious state. Every one of his lyrics are sexually explicit or graphically violent, and because he does them under rather obvious guises, he gets away with it. : Eminem chose to limit his characters, speak from a different place, and he's gotten a lot of shit for it. Look at the albums that came out. The Slim Shady album, the Marshall Mathers album, and the Eminem Show. Slim Shady is the playful, who gives a fuck side of his personality. Marshall Mathers is his human side. Eminem is a hybrid of the two. : Were the production better, Eminem would probably be one of the better rap/hip hop acts out there right now. But he got caught up as a pop musician and instead of kicking and screaming until he got the fuck out of there, he just gave up and caved in. : That's my take, anyway.
