: : My only problem with TRAUMA is that it just lacks a lot of Argento's visual work that I love him for.
You haven't seen it in widescreen. It's the last film Argento shot in anamorphic and it loses a lot in pan-and-scan.
: : while I don't think SLEEPLESS was a true "return to form," I think it's a lot closer than TRAUMA is.
Please point out a single worthwhile visual moment in SLEEPLESS.
Just one.
Please.
I can point out many in wonderful visual moments in TRAUMA (the opening close-up shot that tracks along the paper figures, the overhead floating crane shot of the food on the table at the diner, the point-of-view shots of the butterflys, the entire last 20-minutes of the film with the many crane shots and eliptical dissolves, the wonderful scene in Nicholas' room with the veils emboirdered with his name, the great point-of-view shots of David in his drugged state as he lies on the ground outside of the pharmacy, the entire scene where David goes into the lake to look for Aura, etc. etc. etc...), along with the great story between David and Aura and Argento's newfound attention to character. SLEEPLESS has nothing going for it. It's visually flat and has nothing worthwhile at all on a human level at all.
