I could go on all day explaining the idea, but it starts off in downtown Ottawa showing a wierd local phenomenon: the public trash cans are basket-type deals, and in the morning the black bags invariably are blown inside out by the wind and flap around until someone puts a heavy enoug piece of trash inside. In the second half, we see black garbage bags in their final resting place: the dump. Not at ALL like that dude in American Beauty. See? Besides, my project is 16mm black and white film instead of video. Not even close. Ho ho. Seriously, though, thanks for your support. I appreciate it. Oh yeah: it really IS only going to be about a minute long. It's my first film, eh? So I'm starting out modest. Really, I just want to lose my filmmaking cherry. If it turns out at least half interesting to look at, I'll be happy.
: Alright. I can't state enough how OT this is, so bear with me. For the few people who seemed not totally disinterested, I finished filming my first short film last weekend and am waiting until tomorrow to get the film back from the lab. It's called "Der Mullsack" (the Garbage Bag in pretentious German). I am going nuts right now in anticipation. Anyhow, the 9 crewmembers who helped out are coming to screen the workprint at the Arts Court tomorrow. Please send out all the positive vibes you can to ensure proper focus, exposure and prompt delivery from the lab. I could not believe any less in such stuff, but if it could even make the tiniest difference, I'd appreciate it. OK, enough about me. Isn't it funny? Mr. Smith is in the middle of making a fairly big-budget feature while I am making a microscopic-budget 1 minute short film. So why do I imagine that I am more stressed than him? Thanks for reading.
: But am I reading this right? Is it really just a 1 minute short or are you cracking on yourself? If it is a one minute short, it doesn't happen to be a white plastic bag fluttering in the wind, does it?
