: For every marriage that lasts w/little getting to you know time beforehand, there's a million others that don't. It's a rarity.
Yeah, now who's quoting statistics out of their ass?
: Speaking of yourself, you know it takes a long time to plan such a thing - and that it is a big decision to make, so why are you giving me shit when I say that they wait a bit longer (as other celebs should do)?
Um, it's because you don't know these people at all (for instance, Jennifer Lopez has been married twice before), have never met them, and have nothing to do with their marriage.
: : It actually IS about 65 percent. I know you live in a rose-colored world of chaperones and lovable chimney sweeps, but here in REALITY the majority of homes in the country are in fact, broken.
It's not 65%. First off, the stat you're quoting is generally regarded as around 51-55. Second off, like most statistics, it's misleading and oft-misquoted. The full quote -- based on old figures -- is that the number of divorces each year in the USA is roughly half (less now, actually) that of the number off marriages. It doesn't mean that half of those marriages are ending in divorce, it means that that's the comparison between the two numbers. At the same time, you've got all the marriages that have succeeded (at least, thus far) still piled up on the other side.
: My point is that most celebrity marriages failed & that they should wait a bit more than a few months to decide such a thing. I fail to see your logic in how I'm ill-informed.
Define 'most', first of all. Second of all, if they're going to get divorced anyway, why does it matter when they get married? Third of all, what business is it of yours. Fourth of all, do you think it might just be that it seems that way because the media focuses far more on "These two stars getting divorced!" than on "These two stars still together after all these years." Fifth of all ... ah, forget it, the Bastard can take it from here.
