I would say it had something to do with your S-video cable (S-video cables split the image into black-and-white and color, and if the color pins come loose in the cable, the result is a black-and-white image), except that your other DVDs work fine.
Are you watching it on a PAL television (the British/Australian/European standard)? If so, that might have something to do with it, since A BETTER PLACE, although region 0, is an NTSC (American/Japanese television standard) DVD. Some PAL TVs can play back NTSC dvds in color, but I've heard reports that other PAL sets will only display NTSC in black-and-white.
