HOWEVER, I was discussing my plans to adapt this short story with Ratface on the JERSEY GIRL set, and he told me that a friend of his had just optioned a novel from a little known writer for around $10,000. I would *GUESS* that if the work you're looking to adaptr isn't too well known, that might be a good ball-park figure to expect to pay. As for how to option it, my best advice would be to get in touch with the published, they should be able to point you in the proper direction.
