For comic books, I'm not a big fan of superhero stuff.
As for comic strips, the only comic that can be called the best ever is, of course, John Balfe's "Father Flash". It's very, very good, and only stinky people disagree.
I would suggest looking up this topic on a comics website. Also, check out halloffairness.com, run by comics fella Brian Quinn (Check out the BRILLIANT featured pinup), and angrynakedpat.com, featuring a wealth of cartoons by Brian Lynch and DJ Coffman, amongst myriad other artists and fans as yourself.
